Chapter IV: Baccarat and High Stakes Gambling
Appearing on the silver screen in Jame’s Bond films, Baccarat has always had an aura of nobility, exclusivity and danger associated with it. Originating in Italy (according to Legend), this game has travelled the globe and evolved into a Casino and gambler favourite.
Understanding how a gambler settles on their casino game of choice is always an enlightening origin story, and those that choose Baccarat, accordingly, are gluttons for pain and hindshight. With the simplicity of backing with either the Player or the Banker, Baccarat brings an accessibility and intuitiveness that most people can appreciate. As long as you choose the winning side, you are happy and feeling like a genius.
With its low house edge or “VIG”, you can play Baccarat for hours and work hard to grind out a profit. The epitome of grit grinders, Baccarat players know you need to scratch and claw for every win, to get a enough Ws and come out in the GREEN.
There are a lot of stereotypical Baccarat player profiles, but my favourite is the “OG Asian”. Quiet in nature, but deeply invested in the stakes of the game, the Asian gamers possess wisdom and knowledge from having seen many hands dealt in Baccarat. Balancing superstition and an innate pleasure in gambling, the Asian gamblers appreciate the good odds, the hand tracking and W/L data feed, providing an environment ripe for grinding out some Wins.

Baccarat Overview:
Baccarat is a card game with three possible outcomes; player wins, banker wins, or a tie. There are two opposing sides, the PLAYER and the BANKER. The dealer deals two cards for each, face-up, visible to everyone at the table. Whoever’s hand totals closest to 9 wins. You choose whether you bet on the Player hand or the Banker hand - you can even bet on both. If you bet on the hand of the banker, a commission is paid to the casino, given that this hand is more probable to win. This commission varies by casino but it is generally 5-10% of the winnings. Each card has different values; Ace is worth 1, 2 through 9 are worth their face value, and tens, jacks, queens, and kings equal zero. Each casino has further rules about each hand. Always remember, when you walk up to a table you can ask the dealer for a cheat sheet of the rules if you are unsure at any time. If you aren’t sure then make sure you ask, these are your hard earned dollars that you are gambling.
